Job summary

Salm Partners is seeking a 3rd Shift Team Leader to oversee sleeving, packing and palletizing operations in a USDA-regulated food manufacturing environment. The role emphasizes safety, sanitation, quality, and adherence to SQF and GMP standards.

The ideal candidate has prior leadership experience in a USDA environment, strong hands-on troubleshooting, and the ability to coordinate temporary staff, communicate with maintenance, and drive continuous improvements across the line.

Qualifications

• Leadership experience in a USDA-regulated food manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills are required for shift coordination.
• Hands-on troubleshooting and mechanical aptitude support line performance.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Facilitator with identifying temporary worker staffing needs weekly based on the schedule.
• Enter new temporary workers in the hours tracking database and instruct workers in its use.
• Greet temporary workers and communicate the assigned job at the start of the shift.
• Assist the Facilitator with pre-shift communication meetings.
• Facilitate production activities to ensure safe and efficient operations.
• Verify correct set-up of equipment per the Operational Parameters.
• Assist with operation and daily maintenance of equipment; support Operators in adjustments to optimize performance.
• Assist with production duties as needed during the shift.
• Confer with Maintenance personnel, operators and production partners to resolve equipment problems.
• Ensure production supplies are available to meet the schedule and track usage.
• Monitor quality and record hourly performance for waste and product grades; address issues with operators.
• Troubleshoot equipment problems in packaging and boxing areas.
• Communicate information to the Stuffing Room, QA and Expediting personnel.
• Keep management informed of equipment performance, product quality, safety and sanitation concerns.
• Ensure compliance with Lock-out/Tag-out procedures and safety policies.
• Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives and additional duties as assigned.
