Job summary

MELDS LLC is seeking a dedicated Densifier Operator in Fletcher, NC to operate the densifier unit, feed fiber material, and maintain quality and safety standards.

You will perform deburring, cleaning, inspection, packing, and reporting while supporting shift transitions and teamwork in a fast-paced plastics recycling environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate the densifier unit safely and feed fiber material into the machine opening.
• Maintain efficiency to the approved standard.
• Inspect items and sort by visual inspection for defects.
• Prepare product via deburring and cleaning to meet standards.
• Inspect and pack product per standard.
• Maintain work area and equipment in orderly condition.
• Provide accurate production reporting and scrap counts.
• Communicate with previous shift for information.
• Communicate with Team Leaders and supervisors when issues arise.
• Complete other duties, as assigned.

The Role

This position is responsible for operating the densifier unit by continuously feeding fiber material into the machine for extended periods, involving frequent bending, lifting, and repetitive motion.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

• Operate the densifier unit safely and efficiently and feed fiber material into the designated machine opening.
• Maintain efficiency to the approved standard.
• Inspect items and sort by means of visual inspections to insure they are defect free.
• Prep product via deburring and cleaning to meet product standard.
• Inspect and pack product in accordance with the standard.
• Maintain work area and equipment by cleaning, organizing and keeping it in orderly condition.
• Provide accurate production reporting and scrap counts at the end of the shift.
• Communicate with previous shift to receive important job information.
• Communicate with Team Leaders and supervisors when there are issues.
• Complete other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or G.E.D. certificate required.
• Must have the ability to perform repetitive work in a fast-paced work environment, which includes long periods of standing.
• Must be able to perform basic math skills.
• Attention to detail is imperative.
• Must be able to multi-task.
• Must be able to lift heavy boxes on a regular basis.
• Able to work in a team environment.

Schedule

• 3rd Shift: Monday–Friday, 12:00 AM – 8:00 AM.
• Schedule may vary based on production needs.
• Occasional overtime and weekend work may be required.
