This role is a hands-on, multi-craft industrial maintenance position on 3rd shift, focused on keeping production equipment running safely and efficiently. You will respond to maintenance calls, complete project work, and perform preventive maintenance with the goal of moving the operation from a 50/50 split of preventive versus reactive maintenance to an 80/20 preventive-focused approach. The position involves approximately 70% mechanical and 30% electrical work on a variety of industrial and refrigeration equipment in a climate-controlled food manufacturing facility.
Respond to maintenance calls on production and facility equipment in a timely and effective manner.
Perform preventive maintenance (PMs) on industrial machinery with a focus on increasing overall preventive maintenance coverage.
Execute mechanical maintenance and repair on ammonia refrigeration equipment, chillers, freezers, conveyor lines, air compressors, and other industry-specific machinery.
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems including pneumatics, hydraulics, sensors, valves, bearings, motors, and bushings.
Remove, install, and swap out motors, including 480V three-phase motors, following proper lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
Perform electrical troubleshooting on equipment up to 480V single-phase and three-phase power, diagnosing minor electrical issues and implementing effective repairs.
Carry out MIG and stick welding on stainless steel equipment and components as needed for repairs and fabrication.
Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical drawings to diagnose issues and guide repairs and installations.
Conduct minor machining, installation, and rigging activities to support equipment setup, modification, and maintenance projects.
Support continuous improvement efforts aimed at reducing reactive maintenance and increasing equipment reliability.
Document maintenance activities accurately and communicate equipment status to relevant stakeholders.
Work safely at all times, following established safety procedures and adhering to LOTO and other safety protocols.
Collaborate with other maintenance technicians and production personnel to minimize downtime and maintain smooth operations.
Maintain personal tools and ensure they are available and in good working order for daily tasks.
Minimum of 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Strong mechanical aptitude with approximately 70% of experience in mechanical maintenance and 30% in electrical maintenance.
Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems including pneumatics, hydraulics, sensors, valves, bearings, motors, and bushings.
Hands-on experience maintaining and repairing refrigeration-related equipment such as ammonia systems, chillers, and freezers.
Capability to swap out and install 480V three-phase motors safely and correctly.
Demonstrated ability to perform lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and diagnose minor electrical problems on industrial equipment.
Proficiency in electrical troubleshooting up to 480V single-phase and three-phase power.
Experience with MIG welding and stick welding, particularly on stainless steel equipment.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings for mechanical and electrical systems.
Experience in industrial maintenance, machine maintenance, and machine repair in a production setting.
Strong troubleshooting skills for both mechanical and electrical issues on industrial equipment.
Ownership of a complete set of personal tools suitable for industrial maintenance work.
High school diploma or equivalent educational qualification.
Experience working with conveyor lines, air compressors, and other food manufacturing or packaging equipment.
Knowledge of preventive maintenance strategies and best practices aimed at increasing equipment reliability.
Comfort working with refrigeration equipment and understanding of basic refrigeration principles.
Ability to perform minor machining, installation, and rigging tasks to support equipment projects.
Experience working in a unionized environment is beneficial.
Journeyman-level skills or a Journeyman card are highly valued and may be recognized with additional compensation.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with production and maintenance teams.

This position is based in a climate-controlled manufacturing plant maintained at approximately 6265 degrees, providing a comfortable and consistent working environment. The facility produces various food items, including ice cream sandwiches, cups, and cones, with industrial and refrigeration equipment operating throughout the plant. The role is on 3rd shift, typically running from 10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., with 810 hour days expected and a standard 40-hour workweek; very little overtime is required, though 3rd shift is prioritized for overtime opportunities when they arise. All shifts must be open to starting up to two hours earlier than the scheduled shift time when needed to support operations. The workplace is unionized (Teamsters), offering defined work rules and structured progression. Company uniforms are provided, and employees put them on and leave them at the facility each day, ensuring consistent, appropriate attire for the environment. The plant uses a range of industrial technologies, including ammonia refrigeration systems, chillers, freezers, conveyor lines, air compressors, and other specialized equipment, requiring regular interaction with mechanical, electrical, and welding tools. This is a Permanent position based out of Toledo, OH.
The pay range for this position is $73902.40 - $73902.41/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

- 1-3yrs will receive 1 week vacation, 3-7yrs 2 weeks vacation
- Per the union contract, minimum of single coverage sign-up is automatic (meaning for all union employees, they get single coverage deducted automatically once coverage kicks in on Day 61 of employment.) If they want to add family coverage, they will receive a benefits enrollment packet from the union via mail appr. 2-3 weeks prior to coverage starting.
