Job summary

Aerotek is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to ensure reliable operation, maintenance, and repair of plant equipment, buildings, and grounds at our Leonia, NJ location. You will diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, perform preventive and predictive maintenance, and support continuous improvement of production processes.

The role requires 3–5 years of industrial maintenance experience, knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulics, and pneumatics systems, and PLC troubleshooting.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of maintenance experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulics, and pneumatics systems used in industrial equipment.
• Demonstrated experience with preventive and reactive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of production machinery.
• Mechanical troubleshooting skills, including repair of belts, bearings, couplings, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, operations manuals, and engineering specifications.
• PLC troubleshooting experience, with the ability to diagnose and resolve control system issues.
• Ability to learn and use a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to manage work orders and maintenance activities.
• Ability to operate or learn to operate lift trucks with fork, probe, pipe, and roll clamp attachments.
• Capability to work overtime and weekends, and to adjust to different shifts as needed.
• Physical ability to push, pull, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills preferred.
• High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive, reactive, and predictive maintenance on motors, pneumatic components, conveyor systems, and production equipment to minimize downtime and maintain optimal performance.
• Locate and diagnose sources of mechanical and electrical problems by observing equipment in operation, listening for irregularities, and using precision measuring and testing instruments.
• Troubleshoot malfunctions on coaters, release liners, and slitters, including mechanical and PLC-related issues, and implement effective corrective actions.
• Conduct mechanical troubleshooting and repairs on belts, bearings, couplings, pneumatics, and hydraulics to ensure equipment reliability.
• Read and interpret diagrams, sketches, blueprints, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications to plan and execute maintenance and repair work.
• Perform daily maintenance rounds as needed, including monitoring of fire systems and other critical plant infrastructure.
• Interact daily with plant floor employees to gather feedback and seek input on process improvement ideas, supporting a culture of continuous improvement.
• Work closely with Process Engineering and other maintenance team members to support plant operations and implement technical solutions.
• Build and wire control panels for machinery according to blueprints and schematics when required.
• Learn and manage the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), including entering, printing, and closing work orders accurately.
• Upload, download, configure, modify, and troubleshoot PLC programs and process instruments, particularly using Siemens platforms.
• Operate lift trucks with various attachments (fork, probe, pipe, and roll clamp) after appropriate training, to support maintenance and material-handling tasks.
• Maintain a safe work area by following established safety procedures and using appropriate personal protective equipment.
• Provide support across different plants as needed, including travel between facilities to perform maintenance tasks and equipment troubleshooting.
• Work overtime, weekends, and different shifts as required to cover vacations, support production demands, and ensure equipment availability.

Job Description

The Maintenance Technician ensures the reliable operation, maintenance, and repair of all plant equipment, buildings, and grounds. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $62400.00 - $66560.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
