GENERAL SUMMARY
This is an hourly position in Manteno, IL that reports to the Maintenance Manager. Under minimal supervision, this position is responsible for the safe maintenance, repair, or replacement of plant equipment & systems, to ensure maximum production quantity & quality, while supporting the policies, goals, & objectives of the company.
SCOPE OF JOB FUNCTION
- Initiate, implement, & manage the plant maintenance program with an emphasis on planning/scheduling & preventive/predictive maintenance.
- Monitor the use & inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies, & equipment & initiates reordering when necessary.
- Maintain cleanliness & organization of maintenance shop equipment.
- Make recommendations for improving plant operations & solving maintenance-related problems.
- Supervise plant maintenance personnel.
- Monitor operation of plant equipment & systems.
- Initiate & carry out projects that improve efficiency &/or reduce operating costs.
- Coordinate activities with Maintenance Manager.
- Coordinate maintenance & repair work in all areas to production manager.
- Notify Plant Manager & quality manager of any deviations to the procedures or specifications.
- Maintain cleanliness & organization of maintenance shop & equipment.
- Communicate regularly with maintenance associates, both individually & as a group, to ensure good two-way communication concerning maintenance issues.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED:
- Degree from 2-year college in a related technical field or certificate/diploma from a trade school in related field & 5 years’ experience in the maintenance &/or operation of a process manufacturing facility or equivalent combination of education & experience.
- Must have experience with repairs & maintenance of processing equipment.
- Knowledge & experience with maintaining computerized maintenance management system.
- Solid knowledge of safety regulations & procedures.
- Must be flexible in daily schedule & willing to work overtime also during emergency situations.
- English verbal & written communication skills.
- Competence with MS Word, Excel, Outlook.
