Job summary

The Performance Group is partnering with a client in the Lebanon, PA area to fulfill their hiring needs for a Maintenance Technician (3rd Shift). The role runs Monday-Friday, 10pm-7:30am with a pay rate of $27-$33 per hour depending on experience.

Maintenance Mechanic Technician III will handle preventative maintenance, repairs, installations, and system servicing across production and utility systems to ensure continuous operation for heat, steam, cooling, power, gas, or air supply.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of related experience in a food manufacturing environment or equivalent training.
• Able to read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and use a maintenance computer system for work orders.
• Mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic skills are required.
• Fabrication skills including TIG/MIG are a plus.
• Basic computer and math skills are required.
• Ability to interact with technicians, supervisors, and plant personnel.
• Able to safely use manual tools and power equipment common in construction trades.
• Ability to handle hazardous materials safely and work around heavy machinery.
• Able to teach team members skills and processes from experience.

Responsibilities

MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN (3rd SHIFT)

Job Purpose

The Maintenance Mechanic Technician III is responsible for preventative maintenance, repairing, installing, processing, and packaging equipment, systems, and utilities. In addition, this team member ensures the operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing maintenance requirements (both planned and unplanned) on production, packaging, processing equipment, and utility systems to provide a continuous supply of heat, steam, cooling, electrical power, gas, or air required for operations. All tasks will be performed following all safety guidelines while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of the company.

Primary job duties and responsibilities

• Follow all applicable Safety and Health policies and practices and inform the immediate supervisor about unsafe or unhealthy conditions observed in the workplace.
• Consult with immediate supervisor concerning issues, unusual problems, or developments, and clarification on direction and scope of efforts.
• Responsible for equipment inspection, maintenance, and repair requirements.
• Provide technical assistance for new machinery and adapting existing processes.
• Conduct ongoing preventative visual inspections of machinery and load-handling equipment and provide all scheduled/non-scheduled maintenance and repair as required.
• Provide on-call repair service for machinery.
• Order and keep track of machine parts as necessary.
• Provide all mechanical/technical applications to adapt and install new production equipment for operations; includes pre-consideration of electrical, computer, layout, and mechanical applications.
• Read, study, and review manuals and relevant literature to stay current on new equipment and the updating of existing equipment.
• Complete preventative maintenance reports and other documents to communicate the status of equipment and action required for effective operation of production equipment.
• Proficiently read electrical schematics and able to work through and explain a methodical approach to prove out systems
• Fix mechanical & electrical issues, including vacuum issues, using best maintenance practices to find and fix the root cause.
• Able to trouble shoot 99% of the failures in a timely manner.
• Understand the theory on how each machine works in the plant and strive to continue improving skills.

Minimum qualifications required to successfully perform the job include

• 1-3 Years of related experience in food manufacturing environment and/or training education, High School or GED equivalent
• Able to read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and work with the maintenance computer system for work order processing and completion.
• Mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic skills are required.
• Fabrication skills, including machining and welding with TIG/MIG, are a plus.
• Basic computer and math skills.
• Ability to interact effectively with technicians, supervisors, and members of other trades and plant employees.
• Able to safely use manual tools and power equipment common in the construction trades.
• Able to handle hazardous materials safely and tolerate exposure to heavy machinery and other environmental hazards in both indoor and outdoor.
• Understands and successfully accomplishes task/responsibilities from Level 1 and 2. Is able to show and teach team members skills and processes from gained knowledge and experiences.

Working Conditions

• Exposure to a plant environment that is wet, very humid, and undergoes temperature changes, from hot to cold.
• Fast-paced environment working around heavy meat processing equipment.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to perform extensive walking and standing throughout the shift daily.
• Ability to identify and distinguish colors
• Ability to perform physical activities such as bending, standing, climbing, crouching, stooping, and kneeling.
• Ability to reach with hands and arms and use the sense of smell to help diagnose and repair equipment/machinery.
• Must be able to perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to, lifting equipment, up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
