Job summary

Hood Container Corporation in Sumter, SC is seeking an experienced Industrial Maintenance Technician for the 3rd shift to maintain corrugate equipment. You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, and troubleshoot drives, motors, belts, gears, and PLC-controlled machinery.

Read schematics, work with AC/DC drives and servo systems, and conduct root cause analysis while documenting work in CMMS.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Hands-on maintenance experience required.
• Experience in a corrugated packaging plant preferred; direct corrugator experience is a plus.
• An equivalent combination of technical degree, certification, or apprenticeship may substitute for experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on corrugate equipment, including electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair corrugate-related issues such as drives, motors, gearboxes, belts, rollers, glue systems, steam systems, and controls.
• Diagnose breakdowns under production pressure and restore equipment quickly and safely.
• Read and interpret schematics, electrical prints, pneumatic/hydraulic diagrams, and PLC-related documentation.
• Work with AC/DC drives, VFDs, servo systems, encoders, and PLC-controlled corrugator equipment.
• Perform root cause analysis on recurring issues and recommend long‑term fixes.
• Document maintenance work accurately in the CMMS system.
• Partner with operations to improve machine reliability, uptime, and preventive maintenance effectiveness.
• Follow OSHA and Hood Container safety standards, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
• (Preferred) Support vision systems, glue control systems, and automation tied to machine operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
