Job summary

Judge Direct Placement is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor in the Suffolk, VA area to lead maintenance mechanics and instrument technicians on a 3rd shift (2-2-3, 12-hour) schedule. You will coordinate daily activities, manage work orders in the CMMS, and drive safe, reliable plant operations.

This role requires 3+ years of supervisory experience in industrial manufacturing, strong knowledge of TPM, preventive maintenance, and electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and automation systems.

Qualifications

• 3+ years supervisory experience in industrial manufacturing.
• Experience with TPM, preventive maintenance, and reliability-centered maintenance programs.
• Working knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and automation systems, including PLCs and HMIs.
• Understanding of food safety, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Ability to support a 24/7 manufacturing operation, including rotating shift schedules.
• Strong problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and execute multiple initiatives.
• Proven leadership experience with the ability to motivate, coach, mentor, and develop teams.
• Ability to influence, collaborate, and drive results through effective communication and delegation.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, take initiative, and support hands-on troubleshooting when needed.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily activities for Maintenance Mechanics and Instrument Technicians, ensuring accurate work order, labor, and parts tracking in the CMMS.
• Develop and oversee maintenance schedules to support timely repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance completion.
• Minimize equipment downtime by proactively addressing maintenance priorities and reliability issues.
• Partner with Operations, Production, and Facilities teams to prioritize maintenance activities and support plant performance.
• Communicate maintenance updates, timelines, and operational impacts while supporting continuous improvement efforts.
• Establish team goals, priorities, and performance expectations to drive safe and efficient operations.
• Ensure quality execution of maintenance work, adherence to standard procedures, and timely response to unplanned equipment issues.
• Train, mentor, and develop maintenance personnel while promoting a strong culture of safety and accountability.
• Maintain preventive maintenance programs and analyze equipment issues to recommend corrective actions.
• Collaborate with Engineering on capital projects, equipment upgrades, and replacement initiatives.
• Prepare maintenance reports and operational metrics to support performance tracking and decision-making.
• Foster strong cross-functional partnerships with Production, Quality, Safety, and Engineering teams to improve plant reliability and efficiency.
