Job summary

Smurfit Westrock plc in Dayton, NJ is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for the 3rd shift. The role focuses on troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems in our packaging operations.

Candidates must be certified through a tech/trade school, be safety minded, and have PLC programming knowledge. The starting pay is $35.39 per hour, with potential to $40.31, and benefits include health, dental, vision, retirement plans and paid time off.

Qualifications

• Must be educationally certified through a tech or trade school beyond High School.
• Highly safety conscious.
• Proven experience in electrical/electronics, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic fields are required.
• Knowledge of electrical/electronic components and diagnostic instruments.
• Willing to work any shift and overtime as required.
• Computer experience/operation and PLC programming are necessary.
• High degree of precision with tight tolerances.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical/electronic equipment including PLCs.
• Plans and performs work per electrical codes, materials, and safety standards.
• Installs, starts up and shuts down equipment per safety procedures and OSHA.
• Advises operators and line mechanics on safe operation.
• Maintains maintenance records for equipment.
• Performs preventive maintenance functions as directed.
• Assists and trains other maintenance staff.
• Performs other duties as required.
