Job summary

Atkore is hiring a Maintenance Mechanic for our Harvey, IL facility on the 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM shift. You will install, maintain, and repair plant electronic equipment and support operations with a focus on reliability.

You will troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems, dismantle and repair components, read blueprints, and document work orders. Prior experience in manufacturing and ability to pass a drug screen are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a maintenance mechanic in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in lean manufacturing or business‑system based companies is a plus.
• Strong sense of time organization and urgency in a fast‑paced environment.
• Ability to pass the post‑offer employment drug screen.
• Basic knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical malfunctions on plant machines or related equipment.
• Dismantle devices to access and remove defective parts, replace or repair them, then reassemble and test for proper performance.
• Lap and hone bearings; clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, pulleys, and other moving parts.
• Use precision measuring and testing instruments.
• Measure, cut, and install pipe and tubing; perform layout work, drilling, and tapping.
• Repair and replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and other plumbing equipment; clear clogged drains.
• Connect or disconnect electrical equipment as required by other repairs.
• Perform construction and rigging activities as needed.
• Assist in repair of zinc pots.
• Document work in the Maintenance Work Order system and record materials used.
• Work on ladders, scaffolds, and in difficult positions.
• Read and interpret blueprints & sketches, and create own sketches.
• Operate independently with minimal supervision and assist in training apprentices.
• Operate a lift truck as necessary.
• Maintain clean work areas.
• Work overtime when required.
