Job summary

Smithfield Foods, Inc. in Cudahy, WI is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for the 3rd shift to repair and troubleshoot food processing equipment, including sizers, conveyors, pumps and packaging machinery.

You will perform preventive maintenance, replace belts and gears, and assist with installations while adhering to safety standards. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to read, write, and speak English.

Qualifications

• Must have good mechanical aptitude.

Responsibilities

• Performs repair and troubleshooting on food processing equipment including sizers, stuffers, vacuum pumps, vacuum packaging machinery, conveyors, slicers, injectors, microwaves and hydraulic units.
• Replaces belts, sprockets, gears, chains and valves.
• Rebuilds valves, pumps and gearboxes.
• Troubleshoots pneumatic and hydraulic problems and makes repairs.
• Performs repairs to machines including guarding, bolt replacement and wear-related breakages.
• Welds machine components.
• Conducts preventative maintenance (lubrication, drive systems, etc.).
• Installations including air, water, gas hookups and alignment.
