Job summary

Smithfield Foods, Inc. in Peru, IN is seeking a Maintenance Technician on 3rd shift to keep state-of-the-art food processing equipment running at peak performance.

You will diagnose and repair machinery such as conveyors, vacuum pumps, and hydraulic units, perform preventative maintenance, and install equipment connections. A strong mechanical background and ability to read/understand English are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and 1+ years in industrial mechanical maintenance or 4 years direct experience in industrial mechanical maintenance.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot effectively.
• Effective communication skills in reading, writing, and speaking English.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair a wide range of food processing equipment including conveyors, pumps, slicers, and hydraulic units.
• Replace belts, gears, sprockets, chains, and valves; rebuild pumps, gearboxes, and valves.
• Troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic systems; address mechanical wear; weld components and maintain safety features.
