Job summary

Tyson Foods is seeking a Maintenance Generalist to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain plant equipment and assets on the 3rd shift. The role emphasizes safety, accurate documentation, and the ability to work independently or with a team in a biosecure facility.

Candidates should have at least 2 years of maintenance experience or completion of Industrial Maintenance Training, plus strong communication and physical endurance to handle demanding production environments.

Qualifications

• Must have a minimum of 2 years of maintenance experience or graduate of Industrial Maintenance Training program.
• Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, climbing ladders, and lifting 50-70 lbs.
• Must comply with safety programs and wear PPE including hair net and beard guard.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

• Respond to mechanical or electrical breakdowns and handle emergencies.

• Troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.
• Provide troubleshooting and repair of any mechanical malfunction
• Prepare written documentation of actions taken to correct equipment problems
• Responds to mechanical or electrical breakdowns and handle emergency situations
• Lubricate equipment with various grease and oils
• Perform preventive maintenance according to schedule
• Complete appropriate paperwork and reports
• Must comply with lockout/ tagout, confined space, and all other safety programs
• Must be able to perform mechanical and basic electrical trouble shooting and repairs
• Able to perform diagnosis and repairs without supervision
• Capable of starting all equipment before production startup and shutdown without supervision
• Ability to assist with other mechanics as needed
• Perform janitorial services if needed
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Work in temperature that will vary with outside ambient temperatures and humidity. It can be dusty, warm, and humid.
• Must be willing to complete all required training for the job and perform any other duties assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have a minimum of 2 years of Maintenance experience or graduate of Industrial Maintenance Training program or combination of experience and education to meet the 2 year requirement.
• Must list job experience related to work history\ history, skills, and education information on application.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills are critical
• This position will require standing, walking, bending, stretching, climbing, pushing, pulling, stooping and the ability to climb ladders.
• Position may involve heavy lifting 50-70 lbs. or more.
• Must be willing to work in damp, cold or hot environments, reach above shoulder level.
• Must be able to perform all duties of the position
• Be willing to stand 8- 10 hours a day.
• Must wear PPE, ear protection (plugs or muffs), hair net and beard guard.
• Must have or be able to obtain Tyson operator’s license for pallet jack or forklift, if necessary
• Ability to understand technical mechanical concepts
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong organization skills

Biosecurity/Animal Welfare/Safety Requirements:

• The jobsite is a biosecure environment and could require showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility. Appropriate clothing and footwear is provided by the Company.
• No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry.
• Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.).
• Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.
• Will be trained to recognize and comply with all Safety procedures.
