Job summary

Calise & Sons Bakery is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic Level 3 to service and repair mechanical, electrical, and equipment across our 24/7 bakery. You will perform daily to monthly preventive maintenance, diagnose issues, replace worn components, and ensure safety and food-grade standards.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in maintenance, strong reading and math skills, and experience with conveyors, hydraulics, welding, and PLC troubleshooting. Heavy lifting and hot environments are expected.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• 3+ years' experience as a maintenance mechanic.
• Reading comprehension, mathematics, and writing.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Organized with attention to detail.
• Competent in conveyor belts, hydraulics, welding and fabrication.
• Industrial ovens, proofers and mixer experience a plus.
• Electrical control and trouble shooting.
• PLC trouble shooting.

Responsibilities

• Observe and diagnose equipment for repair.
• Disassemble factory machinery and equipment to remove parts and make repairs.
• Conduct daily rounds and inspections to evaluate requests for repair.
• Complete boiler water testing.
• Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly preventive maintenance and service on factory equipment.
• Follow instructions from manager/supervisor.
• Follow all GMPs.
• Record maintenance repairs performed.
• Operate newly repaired equipment to verify adequacy of repairs.
• Promote and work within safety, quality, and food safety procedures.

General Description

Our mechanics maintain and service the mechanical equipment, machinery, and all components. They must be able to perform skilled repair services of mechanical, electrical, and equipment. The Mechanic Level 3 has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job including repairing conveyor belts, motors, and other factory equipment. They are responsible for daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance and repairs of equipment and the facility in our 24-hour, 7-day a week bakery.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Observe and diagnose equipment for repair
• Disassemble factory machinery and equipment to remove parts and make repairs
• Conduct daily rounds and inspections to evaluate requests for repair
• Completes boiler water testing
• Conducts daily, weekly, and monthly preventive maintenance and service on factory equipment.
• Follows instruction from manager/supervisor
• Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices
• Ability to read and understand Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
• Examine parts for defects such as breakage and excessive wear
• Reassemble after completion of inspection
• Repair and replace broken or malfunctioning components of machinery and equipment
• Operate newly repaired equipment to verify adequacy of repairs
• Thoroughly cleans, lubricates, and adjust parts, equipment and machinery
• Oils and lubricates moving parts on machines to ensure effective performance
• Ability to record maintenance repairs performed
• Works independently within established procedures
• Ability to meet strict deadlines.
• Basic electrical knowledge
• Promotes and works within established safety, quality, and food safety procedures.

Job Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older
• Works well independently and with others
• 3+ years' experience as a maintenance mechanic
• Reading comprehension, mathematics, and writing
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Organized with attention to detail
• Must be competent in the following skills: conveyor belts, hydraulics, welding and fabrication.

• Industrial sized oven, manual proofers, automatic proofers and mixer experience a plus
• Electrical control and trouble shooting
• PLC trouble shooting

Physical Requirements

• Bend to grasp objects and ability to climb ladders
• Bend and lift load not to exceed 50 pounds unassisted or 100 pounds with assistance
• Work in very hot temperatures >90 degrees F seasonally
• Must be able to work a variety of shifts including weekends, evenings, and holidays
• Ability to work in a noisy environment while being exposed to wheat flour and gluten.
• Must be able to use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls and be able to stand, kneel, crouch, walk, stoop, bend, twist, or crawl
• Must be able to work in cramped workspaces and no difficulties getting into areas that create uncomfortable positions
• Requires exposure to high places as well as hazardous equipment and positions
• Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment
