Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for the Dayton, NJ facility. This role focuses on troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, with emphasis on PLC programming and diagnostic tools.

The candidate will install, start up, and shut down equipment in line with safety procedures and OSHA standards. The position requires trade school certification, strong safety awareness, and readiness to work 3rd shift with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

Must be educationally certified through a tech or trade school beyond High School.
Experience in electrical/electronics, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic fields.
Knowledge of electrical/electronic components and diagnostic instruments.
Willing to work any shift and overtime as required.
Computer experience and PLC programming is necessary.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical/electronic equipment.
Plans and performs work per electrical codes and safety procedures.
Installs, starts up and shuts down equipment following OSHA guidelines.
Trains and guides other maintenance staff on procedures.
Performs preventive maintenance and records keeping.
Assists with technical troubleshooting and emergency repairs.
