Job summary

Smurfit WestRock in Deer Park, NY seeks a Maintenance Mechanic for the 3rd shift. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical/electronic equipment, including PLCs. You will install, operate, and shut down machinery safely and keep detailed maintenance records.

Qualifications

• Educationally certified through a tech or trade school beyond High School
• Proven experience in electrical/electronics, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic fields
• Ability to demonstrate high proficiency in these areas
• Knowledge of electrical/electronic components and diagnostic instruments
• Willing to work any shift and overtime as required
• PLC programming experience is necessary
• High precision with minimum tolerances
• Ability to access overhead structures and confined spaces

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical/electronic equipment
• Plans and performs work with knowledge of electrical codes and equipment principles
• Installs, starts up and shuts down equipment per safety procedures and OSHA
• Advises operators on safe operation and requirements
• Maintains maintenance records for equipment
• Performs preventive maintenance as directed
• Assists and trains other maintenance/technical staff
• Performs other duties as required
