About The Position

The 3rd shift Distribution Center Manager is responsible for directing all aspects of the nightly distribution center operations for 25 team members. The position will focus on safety, performance, and problem solving. This position ensures nightly productivity goals are achieved while fostering teamwork, upholding safety compliance, monitoring staffing needs, and supporting a smooth transition between 3rd and 1st shift.

Position Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate all third shift operations to include order picking, shipping, stock put away, inventory control and any other areas that may be added in the future.
• Maintain a safe and organized work environment aligned with OSHA and company safety policies.
• Ensure third shift goals for accuracy, timeliness, and productivity are consistently met.
• Provide guidance, coaching, and direction to third shift staff.
• Troubleshoot and resolve operational challenges during third shift.
• Monitor space utilization and maintain facility organization.
• Complete shift-specific reporting and communicate updates to first shift management.
• Uphold standards for inventory accuracy and proper documentation of damaged goods.
• Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
• Monitor reporting to identify and address operational needs for inventory, traffic, shipping, receiving, etc.
• Routinely visit work areas over 200,000 square feet, including upper levels accessed by stairs, to monitor and direct labor based on production requirements.
• Report all accidents, incidents, and near misses to the Operations Manager and Building Services Safety Coordinator.
• Create action-oriented plans and procedures to optimize productivity and drive performance.
• Collaborate with Human Resources on staffing. Select and train employees and manage all aspects of performance and development of direct reports. Ensure third shift distribution center staff is trained and developed.

Desired Education / Experience

Degree preferred in Operations or Logistics with 2+ years of related experience, or 5 years of direct operational management experience required. Proven leadership with a strong service focus and the ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Incumbent must be proactive, flexible, and exhibit professional interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively. Strong computer skills to include Microsoft Excel; familiarity with ERP and WMS applications, queries, and spreadsheets. PeopleSoft experience preferred. Must be analytical and detail-oriented with excellent communication (verbal/written) and organizational skills. Ability to make sound business decisions, demonstrate effective negotiation, and manage time efficiently.
