Job summary

JLL is seeking a facilities maintenance technician to keep critical building systems running smoothly through proactive maintenance, timely repairs, and system optimization in Charleston, SC. You’ll work hands-on with HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and building automation controls to diagnose issues and support operational continuity.

This role requires 2+ years of hands-on experience, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and work in various conditions.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of hands-on experience in facilities maintenance, building operations, or related technical field
• Working knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical systems, plumbing, and general mechanical systems
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities with demonstrated capacity to diagnose complex system issues
• Valid driver's license and high school diploma or equivalent required
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly, climb ladders, work in confined spaces and various weather conditions, and participate in after-hours emergency response and on-call rotation schedule as required

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and building automation controls according to scheduled maintenance plans while identifying opportunities to improve system efficiency
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues using appropriate tools, equipment, and troubleshooting techniques, prioritizing issues based on safety and operational impact
• Conduct routine inspections of building systems, safety equipment, and structural components to identify potential problems before they elevate into costly repairs or safety hazards
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, and equipment records using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to track trends and support data-driven decision making
• Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs, installations, and major maintenance projects, ensuring quality standards and cost-effectiveness
