Description

Central Garden & Pet is looking for a 3rd Shift Machine Operator to be a part of our Kaytee business unit in Chilton, WI. As a Machine Operator, your main responsibility is to efficiently and safely set up and operate the machine and its related equipment.

The standard work schedule follows regular business hours, averaging at least 40 hours per week. In this role, you'll work four 10-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM, Monday through Thursday, giving you a long weekend every week! There may be some variation in work hours due to overtime, special projects, deadlines, and other concerns.

Key Responsibilities

• Start machine, adjust as necessary and perform troubleshooting.
• Perform efficient machine set-up, clean out, and change-over.
• Maintain communication with Bagger Operator, line associates, and during shift change.
• Comply with all safety rules and company policies.
• Train new and existing line personnel and backups.
• Perform inspection of mix quality out of the Ingredient Bins.
• Complete paperwork accurately and efficiently.
• Maintain work area in a clean and orderly fashion (Complete Cleaning Checklists).
• Understand and know the goals and objectives of the department.
• Work overtime and have some shift flexibility as needed.
• Other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
• Report any Food Safety issues to authorized personnel for correction.

Qualifications

• At least one year of operator or backup operator experience.
• Ability to operate forklift and handcart safely.
• Ability to analyze problems, troubleshoot, and provide solutions.
• Ability to lift up to 105 lbs. with assistance.
• Ability to bend, twist, turn, and climb.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Effective communication promoting lean manufacturing in a team environment.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
• Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
