Description

Central Garden & Pet is seeking a 3^rd Shift Machine Operator for our Kaytee business unit in Chilton, WI. The primary responsibility is to efficiently and safely set up and operate machinery and related equipment.

At Kaytee, you'll work with products for wild birds, pet birds, and small animals. The standard work schedule involves four 10-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM, Monday through Thursday, offering a long weekend each week. Overtime and schedule variations may occur due to project needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Start, adjust, troubleshoot machinery as needed.
2. Perform machine setup, cleaning, and change-overs efficiently.
3. Communicate with team members during shift changes.
4. Follow safety rules and company policies.
5. Train new and existing personnel.
6. Inspect ingredient mix quality.
7. Accurately complete paperwork.
8. Maintain a clean work area.
9. Understand departmental goals.
10. Work overtime and flexible shifts as needed.
11. Report food safety issues promptly.

QUALIFICATIONS

• At least one year of operator or backup operator experience.
• Ability to operate forklifts and handcarts safely.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Ability to lift up to 105 lbs. with assistance.
• Physical ability to bend, twist, climb.
• Good organizational skills.
• Effective communication promoting teamwork.
• Proficient in English reading, writing, speaking.
• Basic math skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Manufacturing/warehouse environment.
• Variable temperatures.
• Typically during regular business hours, with at least 40 hours/week.
• Possible overtime and schedule adjustments.
