Lewis & Clark College is seeking a Reading Tutor for the 3rd-grade High-Dosage Tutoring Program at MLK Jr School in Portland. You will work one‑on‑one to strengthen literacy, promote confidence, and foster engaging learning experiences for elementary students.

The role emphasizes teamwork, leadership, and strong communication. Federal Work‑Study eligibility is required; schedule is 3 days per week, hybrid (Mon & Wed on-site; Fri virtual) with pay of $20 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one reading instruction to 3rd grade students
• Support fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary development
• Encourage confidence and persistence in reading
• Collaborate with site coordinator to align tutoring with literacy goals
• Prepare reading space before student arrival
• Maintain a safe, positive learning environment
• Serve as a positive role model for students
