Job summary

Kitware, a leader in open source research software, is seeking a PhD-level researcher to advance 3D vision technologies including photogrammetry, registration, and reconstruction from images and video. You will contribute to TeleSculptor, KWIVER, and Danesfield while collaborating with customers and colleagues on innovative national security projects.

You will present findings at major conferences and pursue funding opportunities to grow your research areas, with opportunities to travel for

Qualifications

• PhD required in Computer Science or related field.
• Experience using multiview geometry to develop 3D point clouds, meshes, or NeRFs from imagery/video.
• Experience with AI/ML methods for 3D reconstruction or camera calibration.
• Proficiency in C++ and/or Python; good software development practices.
• Strong publication record in top-tier venues (CVPR, ICCV, ECCV).
• Innovative approach with track record solving challenging visual problems.

Responsibilities

• Research and develop algorithms for camera calibration, registration, and 3D reconstruction from images.
• Contribute to open source software like TeleSculptor, KWIVER, and Danesfield.
• Collaborate with researchers to advance ideas and peer-review work.
• Prepare and present findings to customers and collaborators.
• Engage with national/international conferences (CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, WACV, 3DV).
• Seek funding to grow research areas, if desired.
