Job summary

Seneca Foods Corporation is seeking a hands-on Weekend Tankroom Operator for our Packaging department. You will manage tankroom processes, monitor cook cycles, and help position products into the retort, ensuring safe, high-quality canned goods.

The role requires diligence in documentation, adherence to GMP/HACCP standards, and strict safety practices in a fast-paced plant environment. Weekend shifts with potential weekend work are required, with full-time benefits offered.

Qualifications

• Internal GMP/HACCP/BRC training completed.
• Must pass respiratory fitness test.
• Trained in PPE usage and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and complete documentation of all processes.
• Ensure that the required cook times and temperatures are followed.
• Assist in positioning the product into the retort and removing it when the cooking process is complete.
• Complete all preventative maintenance.
• Mara, bleach, glace, and syrup tank processing.
• Monitor and maintain brine and SO2 levels.
• Monitor and maintain fruit and syrup brix levels.
• Monitor and maintain pH levels.
• Responsible for sugar recovery system (APV).
• Monitor fruit for bacteria growth.
• Check equipment to ensure proper function.
• Understand the controls for: syrup, steam, water, etc.
• Other tasks as assigned.

What You’ll Be Doing

What You Bring to the Table

• Internal GMP/HACCP/BRC Training
• Complete work instruction/qualification sheet in allotted time frame
• Trained and knowledgeable in the use of PPE (personal protective equipment)
• Must pass respiratory fitness test

The Work Environment

Exposure to wet/humid conditions and extreme heat/cold. Some high noise levels and moving mechanical parts. Exposure to brine, bleach, and cleaning chemicals.

Must wear proper PPE such as bump cap, eye and ear protection, gloves, to ensure your safety as well as protecting the quality of our products.

Strong communication skills are essential, as the role involves regular interaction with team members across departments.
