Job summary

Seneca Foods Corporation is hiring a 2nd Shift Weekend Tankroom Operator in Hart, Michigan. The role requires strict documentation, adherence to cook times and temperatures, and operation of tankroom equipment in a fast-paced packaging environment.

The position offers full-time hours 2pm-10:30pm with weekend work and a pay range of $23.28–$26.63 per hour plus a shift premium after 90 days. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, 401K, and disability coverage.

Qualifications

• Internal GMP/HACCP/BRC training or certification.
• Excellent communication skills for teamwork and safety.
• Good computer skills for documentation and monitoring.
• PPE training and awareness required.
• Must pass respiratory fitness test.
• OSHA forklift license or cert is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and complete documentation of all processes.
• Ensure that the required cook times and temperatures are followed.
• Position and remove product from retort after cooking.
• Complete all preventative maintenance tasks.
• Maintain proper housekeeping in work areas.
• Process Mara, bleach, glace, and syrup tanks as required.
• Monitor and maintain brine and SO2 levels.
• Monitor and maintain fruit and syrup Brix levels.
• Monitor and maintain pH levels.
• Oversee sugar recovery system (APV).
• Receive product tankers and collect quality samples.
• Monitor fruit for bacterial growth.
• Check equipment for proper function.
• Understand controls for syrup, steam, water, etc.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.

What You'll Be Doing

• Maintain accurate and complete documentation of all processes

• Ensure that the required cook times and temperatures are followed
• Assist in positioning the product into the retort and removing it when the cooking process is complete
• Complete all preventative maintenance
• Maintain proper housekeeping
• Mara, bleach, glace, and syrup tank processing
• Monitor and maintain brine and SO2 levels
• Monitor and maintain fruit and syrup brix levels
• Monitor and maintain PH levels
• Responsible for sugar recovery system (APV)
• Receive product tankers; collect sample to confirm quality
• Monitor fruit for bacteria growth
• Check equipment to ensure proper function
• Understand the controls for: syrup, steam, water, etc
• Other tasks as assigned

The Work Environment

Exposure to wet/humid conditions and extreme heat/cold. Some high noise levels and moving mechanical parts. Exposure to brine, bleach, and cleaning chemicals.

Must wear proper PPE such as bump cap, eye and ear protection, gloves, to ensure your safety as well as protecting the quality of our products.

Strong communication skills are essential, as the role involves regular interaction with team members across departments.
