Nivagen Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in Sacramento is seeking a Visual Inspection and Packaging Operator (2nd Shift: 2:00 pm – 10:30 pm) to perform manual visual inspections of filled containers, operate packing equipment, and ensure products meet quality standards.

The role requires attention to detail, familiarity with cGMP, ability to lift up to 35 kg, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to meet OTIF. 1–3 years pharma packaging experience preferred; high school diploma required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Technical certification or related degree (a plus)
• 1–3 years of experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, visual inspection, or packaging
• Familiarity with cGMP, FDA regulations, and SOPs related to sterile and non-sterile pharmaceutical production
• Strong attention to detail and ability to detect visual defects
• Proficiency in operating inspection and packaging equipment
• Ability to follow written instructions and complete documentation accurately
• Good communication and teamwork skills

Responsibilities

• Perform visual inspection of filled containers (vials, pre-filled syringes, cartridges, IV bags).
• Identify defects (volume variation, particulates, cosmetic defects) and ensure no defective product is released.
• Assist with defect libraries, qualification kits, and machine qualification protocols.
• Prepare and maintain SOPs, batch records, and equipment maintenance documents.
• Handle, store, and transport semi-finished and finished products per storage conditions.
• Avoid cross-contamination and mix-ups during operations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure on-time product delivery.
• Qualify/validate equipment and areas per approved protocols.
• Stand, walk, and lift up to 35 kg; maintain good hand-eye coordination for inspection/packing.
• Record details in documents per SOPs and regulatory guidelines
• Coordinate with production staff to support timely delivery and compliance.
• Package products with secondary materials, ensure proper labeling and sealing.
• Perform labeling, carton packaging, weighing, and packaging configurations.
• Coordinate with warehouse and quality teams to meet OTIF goals.
• Follow safety guidelines and maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Maintain logs and oversee daily visual/packing activities.
• Track defect trends and manage defect storage and investigations.
• Manage market complaints and corrective actions to prevent recurrences.
• Manage inventory for packing consumables.
• Handle autoclave, isolator, and filling machinery as needed.
• Follow clean room gowning and PPE requirements.
