Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Utilities Repair Technician for 2nd shift in Lafayette, IN to mechanically troubleshoot and repair complex machines and related equipment performing assembly, torque, and material movement functions.

The role requires HVAC training and boiler operation experience, with potential overtime and relocation incentives. Offering a 2nd shift schedule (2:30pm-10:30pm), sign-on bonus up to $5,000, and a base hourly pay of $38.52–$49.03 plus a 6% shift premium.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of Industrial utilities and repair experience.
• Background with the ability to troubleshoot and repair large scale dynamometers will be helpful.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair pneumatic, hydraulic systems including compressors, valves, etc.
• Proven boiler operator experience.
• Read and understand mechanical prints; basic electrical troubleshooting.
• Basic welding and cutting skills; operate basic tools for utilities controller job.
• ABB robots experience is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Extensive experience in the mechanical and/or electrical repair of machine tools and related equipment.
• Install, repair, and maintain hydraulic systems, precision bearings, HVAC, and related controllers on machines.
• Repair boilers, pumps, cranes, conveyors, torque tools and related equipment.
• Possess knowledge of leveling, alignment of machines, shafts, gearing, welding, lubrication, pipefitting, and tube bending.
• Be willing to work overtime to support production demands.
