Job summary

J&T Business Consulting is seeking an SMT Operator I for the 2nd shift in Seymour, CT. You will operate and monitor automated SMT equipment, load PCBA jobs, and ensure safety and quality standards in a fast-paced EMS environment.

Responsibilities include setup, loading, inspection of boards, component handling, and maintaining records in the MES system. Prior SMT experience is beneficial; IPC-A-610 certification preferred. Training provided for career growth.

Qualifications

• 0–3 years of related electronic assembly or SMT machine operation experience (1+ years preferred).
• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Component Identification training required.
• IPC-A-610 Certification is preferred.
• Working knowledge of Shop Floor Tracking Systems (Aegis MIS) and familiarity with Fuji-trax.

Responsibilities

• Set up, run, and tear down solder paste screen printers; load stencils and verify paste alignment.
• Load, inspect, and unload PCBs across screen printers, SPI platforms, pick-and-place systems, and reflow ovens.
• Load and stage component feeders onto pick-and-place carts; perform minor program edits and parameter checks.
• Recall and confirm appropriate reflow oven profiles for parts; monitor equipment and perform daily maintenance.
• Log job transactions and operational notes in the MES / Shop Floor Tracking system.
• Coordinate with line leads and quality inspectors to ensure balanced board flow and minimize downtime.
• Assist in training new operators on setup, line loading, and teardown routines.
• Adhere to safety, OSHA, SDS, and ESD guidelines.
