Job summary

Smalley Steel Ring Company in Lake Zurich, IL is seeking a Shipping Clerk responsible for inspecting and packing products to customer specs. You’ll process parcels, manage BOLs, and assist with data entry and urgent order prioritization.

Qualifications include basic math/English, packaging skills, and strong communication. This role offers competitive benefits and an hourly wage in the posted range.

Qualifications

• Prepare products for shipping by utilizing various packaging methods including roll-packing and bagging.
• Solid understanding of internal packing/shipping terminology and completion of required paperwork.
• Pass required exam of basic math and English.
• Ability to prioritize and distribute work accordingly.
• Communication skills a must, via email and face-to-face.

Responsibilities

• Inspects and packages products in compliance with blueprints/part/customer specifications.
• Operates necessary scales/equipment related to the assigned product.
• Works as a Shipping Clerk: processing parcels through UPS/FedEx, completing BOLs, loading trucks, etc.
• Identifies and reports products that fail to meet specifications to Supervisor.
• Works at the Data Desk: entering jobs into the computer database, replying to emails, prioritizing urgent orders, communicating with team.
• Reads and follows customer notes.
• Participates in cross-departmental work based on business needs.
• Upholds defined quality standards to ensure customer satisfaction and efficiency.

• Learns and upholds defined quality standards to ensure maximum customer satisfaction and optimize work efficiency
