The 2nd Shift Sheet Metal Shop Leadis a skilled and experienced sheet metal professional responsible foroverseeing the day-to-day operations of the sheet metal shop during thesecond shift. This role includes leading and managing the workforce,scheduling and prioritizing projects, ensuring quality and safetystandards are met, and assisting with hands-on fabrication and assemblytasks. The Lead will troubleshoot production issues, train and mentor teammembers, and maintain an organized, efficient, and productive workenvironment.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Supervision
- Manage and lead the 2nd shiftworkforce, ensuring safety procedures are followed and high-quality workis produced.
- Schedule and prioritize projects tomeet deadlines and budget requirements.
- Provide on-the-job training,guidance, and ongoing development for new and existing employees.
- Maintain a safe, clean, andorganized work environment, adhering to 5S principles and promotingcontinuous improvement.
Fabrication & Assembly
- Interpret engineering drawings,blueprints, and specifications to ensure accurate dimensions, angles, andtolerances.
- Operate sheet metal fabricationtools and equipment such as shears, press brakes, rollers, hoists, cranes,and laser/plasma cutters.
- Assemble sheet metal parts usingriveting or fastening techniques to create finished parts orsub-assemblies.
- Verify that finished products meetspecifications using measuring tools such as calipers, gauges, and tapemeasures.
- Build crates and packaging for safetransport of finished products using various hand tools.
Quality, Safety & Reporting
- Adhere to all safety protocols,reporting any hazards or unsafe conditions.
- Meet all quality standards, promptlyaddressing and documenting nonconformities.
- Accurately track time, materials,and production progress using company software.
- Perform routine maintenance on toolsand equipment.
- Troubleshoot production issues andidentify opportunities for process improvement.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years' experience in sheetmetal fabrication; prior leadership experience preferred.
- Strong leadership, organizational,and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projectsand meet tight deadlines.
- Proficient in reading andinterpreting blueprints and engineering drawings.
- Forklift certification andexperience with powered industrial vehicles preferred.
- Proficient with measuring devices(1/16" increments) and basic computer skills (Microsoft Office/Excel).
- Excellent communication andinterpersonal skills.
