Caldwell is seeking a Robot Weld Operator for the 2nd shift in Rockford, IL. The role involves operating industrial robots to fabricate metal parts, performing MIG welding as needed, and ensuring parts meet quality standards.

The position requires experience with weld robots, welding, and reading weld symbols, with a 2G test as part of qualifications. The 2nd shift runs four 10-hour days from 3:00pm to 1:30am with a $5 per hour shift differential.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of experience operating a weld robot.
• Two years of welding experience.
• Ability to pass a 2G horizontal weld test.
• Knowledge of welding equipment and tools and their maintenance.
• Knowledge of wire and filler materials for various alloys.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, weld symbols and procedures.
• Ability to obtain certification on overhead crane and forklift.

Responsibilities

• Operate one or more industrial robots to fabricate metal parts or assemblies per welding specifications.
• Clamps, holds, grinds, or bolts parts to configurations for welding.
• Adjust machine controls and make program edits as needed to prevent collisions or errors.
• Unload welded parts and place them in containers or on skids.
• Perform basic MIG welding and grinding to meet quality standards.
• Inspect finished pieces against specifications using gauges and inspection sheets.
• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and maintain a clean work area.
• Operate overhead crane to position weldments and adhere to safety rules.
