Job summary

The Caldwell Group Inc in Rockford, IL is seeking a Robot Weld Operator for the 2nd shift. You will operate industrial robots to fabricate metal parts according to specifications, applying welding theory on production lines.

The position offers a four-day 10-hour schedule (Mon-Thu, 3:00 pm–1:30 am) with a $5 per hour shift differential. Must have two years' welding and robot experience, and read weld symbols and prints.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of experience operating a weld robot.
• Two years of welding experience; ability to pass a 2G horizontal weld test.
• Knowledge of welding equipment and tools including their design, uses, repair, and maintenance.
• Knowledge of wire and filler materials application for various steel alloys, SS, aluminum, and others.
• Knowledge of basic math skills.
• Ability to read and interpret documents including prints, weld symbols, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals.
• Ability to obtain a certification on overhead crane and forklift.

Responsibilities

• Clamps, holds, grinds, or bolts component parts to object required configurations and positions for welding.
• Moves machine controls and guides to adjust machine.
• Performs program edits to correct if a collision, fault, or error message occurs with the robot.
• Unloads welded parts from the robotic welder and places them on appropriate containers and skids.
• Performs basic MIG welding techniques, as needed, following weld standards.
• Performs grinding as needed to ensure product meets required specifications and quality standards.
• Examines finished work pieces to verify conformance with specifications using inspection sheets and gauges.
• Performs prescribed preventative maintenance on equipment and machines.
• Uses overhead crane to position weldments.
• Maintains a clean and orderly work area and equipment.
• Complies with all safety rules and regulations.

Salary Range: $23.00 To $34.00 Hourly

The second shift schedule is four 10-hour days, Monday-Thursday from 3:00pm to 1:30am. Caldwell offers a $5.00 per hour shift differential for second shift. The Robot Weld Operator position is responsible for operating one or more industrial robots to fabricate metal parts or assemblies to specification by applying basic knowledge of welding theory on production.

Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. Moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level can be loud during periods in the manufacturing area.
