Job summary

Caldwell in Rockford, IL is seeking a Robot Weld Operator for the weekend shift. You will operate one or more industrial robots to weld parts to specification, using MIG welding and basic welding theory. The role requires two years of welding experience and the ability to pass a 2G weld test.

Weekend schedule is Fri–Sun, 6:00am–6:00pm, with a 22% differential on gross earnings. Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent, familiarity with welding equipment, and ability to read

Qualifications

• Two years of experience operating a weld robot.
• Two years of welding experience.
• Ability to pass a 2G horizontal weld test.
• Knowledge of welding equipment, tools and maintenance.
• Knowledge of wire and filler materials for various alloys.
• Ability to read and interpret prints, weld symbols and procedures.
• Ability to obtain overhead crane and forklift certification.

Responsibilities

• Clamps, holds, grinds, or bolts component parts for welding.
• Moves machine controls and guides to adjust the weld robot.
• Edits programs to correct collisions or errors.
• Unloads welded parts and places them in containers and skids.
• Performs basic MIG welding following weld standards.
• Grinds as needed to meet specifications and quality standards.
• Inspects finished work pieces using gauges and specifications.
• Performs preventative maintenance on equipment and machines.
• Uses overhead crane to position weldments.
• Maintains a clean and orderly work area and equipment.
• Complies with safety rules and Caldwell values.

Salary Range: $27.00 To $38.00 Hourly

The weekend shift schedule is three 12-hour days (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) from 6:00am to 6:00pm. Caldwell provides a weekend shift differential 22% of gross earnings per pay bi-weekly pay period. The Robot Weld Operator position is responsible for operating one or more industrial robots to fabricate metal parts or assemblies to specification by applying basic knowledge of welding theory on production.

Job Duties:

• Clamps, holds, grinds, or bolts component parts to object required configurations and positions for welding
• Moves machine controls and guides to adjust machine
• Performs program edits to correct if a collision, fault, or error message occurs with the robot.
• Unloads welded parts from the robotic welder and places them on appropriate containers and skids.
• Performs basic MIG welding techniques, as needed, following weld standards
• Performs grinding as needed to ensure product meets required specifications and quality standards
• Examines finished work pieces to very conformance with specifications, according to operation inspection sheet, quality control plans, and/or customer notes using instruments such as gauges
• Performs prescribed preventative maintenance on equipment and machines
• Uses overhead crane to position weldments
• Maintains a clean and orderly work area and equipment.
• Complies with all safety rules and regulations.
• Demonstrates the Caldwell values in all work activities.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Two years of experience operating a weld robot
• Two years of welding experience
• Ability to pass a 2G horizontal weld test
• Knowledge of welding equipment and tools including their design, uses, repair, and maintenance
• Knowledge of wire and filler materials application for various steel alloys, SS, aluminum, and others
• Knowledge of basic math skills
• Ability to read and interpret documents including prints, weld symbols, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals
• Ability to obtain a certification on overhead crane and forklift

Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. Moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level can be loud during periods in the manufacturing area.

Physical Requirements:

Continuously required to stand. Frequently required to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and engage in repetitive use of hands. Occasionally must bend; reach overhead; crouch, kneel, push, pull or lift up to 50 pounds; and talk and listen.
