Job summary

Amrize is seeking a 2nd Shift Utility Operator at our Rockville, MD quarry. The role focuses on operating heavy equipment, maintaining safety, and supporting daily quarry production with routine inspections and minor repairs.

Responsibilities include loading and transporting aggregate, performing maintenance tasks, and coordinating with supervisors to ensure efficient operations while adhering to safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience operating heavy equipment in an industrial or recycling environment.
• Hands-on experience with wheel loaders and dozers.
• Experience in a quarry, aggregate, construction, mining or similar setting.
• Strong knowledge of safe operation and routine inspections.
• Able to perform physically demanding outdoor tasks.
• Basic mechanical and electrical knowledge; able to assist with repairs.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment, including wheel loaders and dozers, to support quarry production and site maintenance.
• Load, move, and transport aggregate materials within the quarry and processing areas.
• Perform daily pre- and post-operation inspections and report safety concerns.
• Assist with general quarry labor tasks: cleanup, material handling, and site maintenance.
• Use hand and power tools for routine maintenance and minor repairs of equipment.
• Support maintenance with repairs, preventive maintenance, and servicing of crushers, conveyors, and screens.
