SUMMARY

The Production Maintenance Technician II ensures the operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on production machines, following diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications, and troubleshooting malfunctions. This position maintains production equipment to ensure all machines meet FDA Quality Standards and OSHA requirements.

NOTE: THIS IS A 2ND SHIFT POSITION (2pm-10:30pm).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Support and perform planned maintenance activities, including preventive maintenance, throughout production.
  2. Prepare and submit maintenance reports to the engineering manager.
  3. Respond to requests from the manufacturing floor by evaluating issues and determining necessary maintenance actions.
  4. Perform root cause analysis to resolve problems promptly and determine if further assistance is needed.
  5. Participate in equipment optimization and cost control activities.
  6. Identify sources of mechanical problems by observing devices in operation.
  7. Interpret engineering blueprints, schematics (mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic).
  8. Perform changeovers on equipment as required by production schedules.
  9. Reduce downtime by informing production staff about routine maintenance and monitoring compliance.
  10. Maintain a safe and clean work environment in compliance with procedures and regulations.
  11. Document and communicate actions, irregularities, and ongoing needs to ensure team continuity.
  12. Participate in cross-functional process improvement teams.
  13. Assist in other areas or perform additional duties as needed by business demands.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High degree of skill and broad knowledge of mechanical principles, electro-mechanical techniques, pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, robotics, PLCs, and extensive experience.
  • Proficient in using basic and advanced hand tools.
  • Ability to collaborate with other departments to support customer focus and operational efficiency.
  • Capable of working in a high-paced, multi-task environment.
  • Self-motivated with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of a two-year degree in Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Advanced technical or college training.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and basic electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment involves working near production equipment or in an office setting. Employees should be able to stand, walk, climb ladders/stairs, and operate power tools. Occasionally, bending, stooping, crouching, or reaching may be required.
