Job summary

Vertiv is seeking a motivated Production Supervisor for the 2nd shift to lead, coordinate staffing, and drive safety, quality, and on-time delivery in a fast-paced manufacturing facility in the United Kingdom.

You will supervise 2nd shift operations, ensure adherence to work instructions and customer specs, and collaborate with engineering, quality, materials, maintenance, safety, and HR to meet production goals.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of leadership experience in a manufacturing, production, or similar environment.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage daily production priorities, and ensure safety and quality.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing safety practices, OSHA, PPE, incident reporting, hazard recognition.
• Ability to read work instructions, schedules, drawings, SOPs, and quality documentation.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work 2nd shift 5:00 pm–3:00 am and support overtime as needed.
• Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).

Responsibilities

• Shift Leadership: Supervise 2nd shift production from 5:00 pm to 3:00 am with safety, quality, and productivity goals.
• Line Management: Staff production areas, adjust staffing based on priorities and attendance.
• Quality Assurance: Ensure adherence to work instructions, blueprints, SOPs and customer specs.
• Team Communication: Lead daily shift Tier meetings to discuss targets and updates.
• Performance Management: Coach and provide feedback, address attendance or conduct concerns.
• Resource Allocation: Ensure materials, tools, and equipment are available for safe work.
• Shift Handover: Conduct thorough shift-change briefings on status and priorities.
• Problem Solving: Resolve issues, escalate when needed, minimize downtime, protect schedule.
• Cost Control: Monitor labor hours and optimize overtime and bottlenecks.
• Shift Readiness: Verify work areas and documentation are prepared before startup.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with multi-function teams to execute priorities.
• Data Reporting: Maintain shift metrics on safety, quality, output, and downtime.
• 5S & Safety: Maintain clean, organized workplaces and enforce safety policies.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify workflow improvements and efficiency gains.
• Leadership Backup: Cover for manager during absences as needed.
