Job summary

AZZ Inc. has an exciting 2nd shift opportunity for a Production Lead at our Blacksburg facility.

Reporting to the Production Supervisor you will be responsible for coordinating the work of all production employees and ensuring quality and safety standards are met. You are a team player with strong communication skills, capable of guiding a small group, troubleshooting equipment as needed, and covering supervisor tasks during absences while fostering a culture of reliability and continuous

Qualifications

• Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
• Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Knowledge of hot dip galvanizing, steel fabrication or other custom metal coating operations preferred.
• 6 months to 1-year related experience required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the safe use of all equipment.
• Troubleshoot minor equipment maintenance and repair.
• Confer with supervisor and machine operators to report equipment malfunctions to resolve production problems.
• Report on performance and progress of employees.
• Maintain production goals.
• Direct personnel on work assignments based on management recommendations.
• Visually inspect finished material to ensure quality standards.
• Assist in training new employees.
• Assist in enforcing safety policies.
• Cover the Supervisor’s tasks efficiently during their absence.
• Perform other duties as assigned and supervise direct reports.
