Job summary

QuidelOrtho in Carlsbad, CA is seeking a Production Lead to coordinate assembly and packaging activities and oversee line performance. This role supports spotting, lamination, testing, filling, lyophilization, and final kit packaging in line with QSRs and operating procedures.

The position is on-site in Carlsbad with a 2:00 pm – 10:30 pm shift schedule and requires strong leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and a focus on data integrity and daily production targets.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in Senior Production Associate or equivalent.
• Ability to coordinate schedule requirements of all processes in the department.
• Knowledge of internal customer/supplier relationships in decision making.
• Demonstrates consistent and sound judgement.
• Knowledge of basic Excel and Word.
• Capable of running area in absence of supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Carries out duties in compliance with established business policies.
• Coordinates all manufacturing line activities including labor and material allocation to meet production standards; allocates labor based on skill level and status.
• Adheres to daily production schedule and ensures that production goals are obtained; ensures timely start-up, changeovers and shutdown.
• Responsible for data integrity and timely tracking of line measures (yield, scrap, downtime).
• Coordinates and communicates across shifts with leads and support groups (mechanics, engineers, warehouse, quality control, planning, management).
• Maintains manufacturing documents and ensures accuracy and timeliness.
• Maintains attendance records and reviews employee time cards for accuracy.
• Coordinates and participates in staff training and maintains training records.
• May write and participate in performance evaluations.
• Assists with transfers of new products to manufacturing including equipment/process validation.
• Works with facilities and maintenance to repair/improve equipment.
• Initiates document and procedural changes via ECO system.
• Coordinates processing of experiments for R&D or Chemistry departments.
• Performs other work-related duties as assigned
