1The Role

At QuidelOrtho, we’re advancing the power of diagnostics for a healthier future for all. Join our mission as our next Production Lead. This position is responsible for coordinating assembly and/or packaging activities which may include but are not limited to any of the following processes; spotting, lamination, testing (in-process and matrix), filling, lyophilization operation, strip loading and assisting machine operation, inspecting assembled devices and pouches, packaging final kits and following all associated QSRs, manufacturing instructions, operating procedures and drawings. This position will be on 2nd shift: Monday - Friday / 2:00 pm - 10:30 pm. This position will be onsite in Carlsbad, CA.

The Responsibilities

• Carries out duties in compliance with established business policies.
• Coordinates all manufacturing line activities including labor and material allocation so that production standards are met.
• Ensures the accuracy of material and labor transactions into LN.
• Allocates labor based on skill level and employment status (perm/agency).
• Adheres to daily production schedule and ensures that production goals are obtained.
• Ensures timely start-up, changeovers and shutdown.
• Responsible for data integrity and timely tracking of all line measures (yield, scrap, downtime).
• Ensures effective shift transition by clearly communicating with leads on all shifts regarding quality, personnel and equipment issues.
• Effectively communicates with all support groups (mechanics, engineers, warehouse personnel, quality control, chemistry, planning and management).
• Complies with all QSRs.
• Ensures that all manufacturing documents are reviewed and completed in an accurate and timely manner.
• Responsible for maintaining department attendance records and reviewing employee time cards for accuracy.
• Coordinates and participates in staff training.
• Ensures that training records are accurately maintained and current.
• May write and participate in employee performance evaluations.
• Assists with the transfers of new products to manufacturing including validation of equipment and/or processes.
• Proactive in working with facilities and maintenance to repair/improve equipment.
• Initiates document and procedural changes utilizing the ECO system.
• Coordinate processing of experiments for R & D or Chemistry departments.
• Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

The Individual Required

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Leadership training or experience.
• Ability to objectively evaluate performance and provide constructive criticism.
• Experience of Senior Production Associate or equivalent.
• Same as Senior Production Associate with additional ability to coordinate schedule requirements of all processes performed in the department.
• Must demonstrate knowledge of internal customer/supplier relationships in decision making.
• Demonstrates consistent and sound judgement.
• Knowledge of basic Excel and Word.
• Capable of running area in absence of supervisor.
• This position is not currently eligible for visa sponsorship.

The Key Working Relationships

• Internal Partners: QC, Warehouse, Planning, Facilities, Mechanics, Engineers and Leadership team.

The Work Environment

The work environment characteristics are representative of a manufacturing environment and may include handling of viral and bacterial hazards as well as infectious or potentially infectious bodily fluids, tissues and samples. Flexible work hours to meet project deadlines.

The Physical Demands

Position requires ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis. Typically 80% of time on manufacturing floor, 20% on computer, doing analytical work. Walking, standing, and/or sitting for long periods of time (up to 75% of the day) are routine to accomplish tasks in this role. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. Personal protective equipment is required as posted.

Salary Transparency

The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary range for this position is $51,889.00 - $66,158.48 and is bonus eligible. QuidelOrtho offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, along with a 401(k) plan, employee assistance program, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, paid time off (including sick time), and paid Holidays.
