Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. in York, PA seeks a Precision Measurement Technician for the 2nd shift to support Navy Systems. You will qualify nondestructive tests, operate CMMs, calibrate instruments, and inspect precision gauges.

Qualifications

• Investigate assignments such as tooling, fixtures, production operations, repair, receiving operations, parts of units in various stages of assembly to insure requirements, and a nondestructive test.
• Plan and perform unusual and difficult nondestructive tests with general operation methods.
• Use a variety of precision measuring devices and shop mathematics to verify accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Qualify and perform nondestructive examinations (dye penetrant and magnetic particle tests).
• Set up, program, and operate coordinate measuring machines; calibrate and date instruments.
• Inspect and calibrate precision gauges and measuring devices; audit parts, jigs, dies, fixtures and tools.
• Investigate wide range of tasks including tooling, fixtures, production operations and packaging operations.
• Audit startup procedures, detect malfunctions and verify equipment reliability.
• Communicate audit findings and support continuous improvement with SPC.
• Prepare surface plate and optical comparator setups; perform hardness tests.
• Maintain records and generate documentation to guide operators and improvements.

Education

Equivalent to training received in a formal registered apprenticeship program
