Job summary

Viking Drill & Tool, Inc. is seeking a Machine Set-Up Technician for the 2nd shift (2:00 p.m.–10:30 p.m.) to set up and operate grinding machines used to manufacture twist drill bits.

You will read blueprints, set up tooling, and verify parts meet exact specifications in a hands-on, precision machining environment. We offer a competitive hourly wage with benefits including medical/dental, ESOP, profit-sharing, and paid time off.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Ability to read safety rules, manuals, and procedures.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
• Knowledge of machines, tools and mechanical processes.
• Ability to perform routine maintenance and identify mechanical issues.
• Strong problem-solving and attention to detail.
• Ability to work full-time (40 hours/week) and meet attendance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and job cards for dimensions, tolerances and production requirements.
• Set up grinding machines, tooling and components.
• Adjust machine controls for speed, feed rate and wheel angles.
• Inspect finished parts for quality and accuracy.
• Troubleshoot equipment to keep production running smoothly.
• Perform routine machine maintenance.
• Complete required production and inventory documentation.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organized work area.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Assist with machine operations as needed.
