Job summary

Materion is seeking a second-shift machinist to improve surface conditions on rolled tantalum and niobium products. You will sand or grind to meet Class 1 specs, and set up, adjust, and operate leveling equipment and shears to ensure dimensional accuracy.

Work hours are 2:30 pm–11:00 pm, Monday through Friday. The role emphasizes safety, accurate measurement, and collaboration with the rolling mill team in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 0-2 years of production experience.
• Basic math skills required.
• Familiarity with measuring tools (micrometers, calipers).
• Good written and verbal communication.
• Machining experience is a plus.
• May require fork truck and/or overhead crane licenses.
• Lockout/Tagout certification must be obtained.

Responsibilities

• Sand or grind rolled materials to remove surface imperfections.
• Set up and operate leveling equipment.
• Set up and operate shears to meet specs.
• Assist in rolling mills under supervision.
• Follow safety practices and PPE requirements.
• Use measuring instruments with assistance.
• Identify problems and seek help to resolve.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
