Job summary

Mallard Manufacturing in Sterling, IL is seeking a Machine Operator to independently set up and operate production equipment, inspect parts, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to safety, quality, and efficiency improvements.

You will read blueprints, perform first-piece and in-process inspections, document data, and support maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives. The role is on-site on 2nd shift, with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of prior machine operator experience.
• Ability to perform complete machine setups independently.
• Strong blueprint-reading and technical interpretation skills.
• Proficiency with precision measurement tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform complete machine setups, including tooling changes, calibration, and adjustments.
• Conduct first-piece and in-process inspections using precision measurement equipment.
• Troubleshoot and resolve routine production issues independently, escalating more complex problems when needed.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications.
• Accurately document production data, downtime, and corrective actions.
• Support preventive maintenance by identifying equipment wear, damage, and recurring problems while maintaining machine cleanliness and daily care requirements.
• Provide informal guidance and technical assistance to less experienced operators and collaborate with quality and maintenance teams to support production.
• Recommend improvements that enhance safety, efficiency, or quality and participate in continuous improvement and 5S initiatives.
