Smalley is seeking an experienced machine operator in Lake Zurich, IL to learn and operate wire forming machinery, set up tooling, run multiple machine groups, and support quality checks to meet production targets.

Qualifications

• Experience in a manufacturing or related environment is required.
• Mechanical experience including operation of high-speed auto and semi-auto equipment.
• Set up and adjust metal forming processes (stamping, forming, shearing).
• Troubleshooting production equipment and identifying machine problems.
• Measuring parts with precision instruments (micrometers, calipers).
• Pass required math and English exam.

Responsibilities

• Learns to independently set up 25% and operate 100% of the machine groups.
• Opens and closes each job.
• Loads wire efficiently and safely using appropriate tools and removes empty spools.
• Measures and inspects wire quality throughout setup.
• Operates testing equipment including micrometers and calipers.
• Retrieves gauges, tooling, racks and materials.
• Demonstrates heat sampling and machine tooling changes.
• Sets up machines, adjusts tooling, sets parameters.
• Assists leads and supervisors with training.
• Performs basic troubleshooting and adjustments to machines.
• Communicates machine issues with Operators.
• Participates in cross-department work as needed.
• Upholds quality standards to maximize customer satisfaction.
