Job summary

Airgas USA, LLC is hiring a Plant Operator for the Elk Grove Village, IL facility. The role involves safely operating equipment for handling and producing packaged gas cylinders (high pressure and cryogenic).

You will load/unload cylinders, read labels, and ensure compliance with DOT/FDA/OSHA standards while maintaining accurate records and a clean work area. Monday–Friday schedule at the Elk Grove Village site.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to read safety rules and procedure manuals.
• Detail-oriented with ability to perform math.
• Ability to safely operate a forklift.
• Must have valid US work authorization; visa sponsorship not offered.
• Knowledge of DOT, FDA, OSHA standards is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment for handling and production of gas cylinders.
• Load/unload cylinders onto trucks with carts and move cylinders safely.
• Sort and roll cylinders; operate a forklift for pallet movement.
• Read cylinder labels and color codes; label cylinders accurately.
• Prepare high-pressure and cryogenic vessels for filling.
• Perform basic cylinder maintenance and keep work area clean.
• Inspect cylinders prior to filling; conduct safety checks.
• Manage paperwork to DOT, FDA, OSHA and Airgas standards.
