Job summary

Great Plains Manufacturing seeks a reliable 2nd shift Paint Line Person to operate and support our Abilene West facility in Abilene, KS. The role involves loading paint lines, prepping parts for topcoat, and ensuring accurate part delivery while maintaining safety and inventory integrity.

Preferred candidates may have paint experience, basic computer skills, and familiarity with AS400. The position offers a 2nd shift schedule Monday-Thursday evenings with overtime as needed and a potential

Qualifications

• Previous paint experience helpful, but not required.
• Ability to lift, carry and position parts weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Some forklift experience and experience handling large parts is helpful, but not required.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Basic computer skills; familiar with AS400.
• Ability to follow inventory control procedures.
• Attention to detail and being a strong team player.
• Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and change implementation.
• Adherence to OSHA safety regulations and PPE.

Responsibilities

• Load Paint lines safely to maximum capacity per the Daily Production Requirements list.
• Learn all aspects of prepping unfinished parts for final topcoat.
• Download painted parts safely and ensure correct part identification and delivery to correct location to maintain inventory accuracy.
• Inspect painted parts at the unload station for quality defects.
• Pack painted parts to ensure arrival to customer in good condition.
• Adapt to all paint line duties, including Load, Prep, Unload, Material Handling & Painting.
