Job Description

Summary: Prepare finished product for packaging and shipment, including building crates, inspection, weighing, labeling, and documenting. This is an hourly, non-exempt position reporting to the group leader.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Construct crates and/or boxes to properly and securely hold products for shipment.
2. Weigh and label packages as required.
3. Inspect packages to ensure they meet shipping regulations.
4. Monitor and inspect finished products throughout the packaging/crating process.
5. Read and compare packaging & paint requirements to print/specs.
6. Visually inspect parts during packaging/crating and take necessary actions to correct imperfections.
7. Perform testing and complete documentation as required by customers.
8. Monitor and communicate inventory concerns.
9. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. High school Diploma or GED required.
2. Preferably 1 year of proven experience in a manufacturing environment.
3. Basic crane and forklift experience including forklift certification (or the ability to be trained/certified).
4. Basic product knowledge, blueprint reading skills, and record-keeping abilities.
5. Capable of understanding and following routing information.
6. Basic knowledge of inventory management.
7. Troubleshooting capabilities.
8. Ability to effectively train new employees.
9. Proven ability to inspect work and meet quality expectations.
10. Ability to identify and share process improvement ideas.
11. Ability to operate saws and hand tools.

Physical Requirements:

1. Prolonged periods standing.
2. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
3. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
