About The Opportunity
- Packaging Operator – B shift (Afternoons)
- Monday - Friday 1:30pm – 10:00pm
- The hourly wage for this position is $22.72, plus $.50/hour shift dif.

Role Summary
The Packaging Operator will be responsible for a variety of functions within the VMS manufacturing area, including stacking, sorting, distributing bulk products and materials, hand palletizing, sorting products, packaging equipment setup and operation, and raw material management (bottles, caps, corrugate).
Duties And Responsibilities
- Promote and maintain a safety culture, always adhering to all plant safety policies and procedures. Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Assist with the setup and operation of auxiliary packaging line equipment, including bottling machines, baggers, vision systems, bottle labelers, bundlers, bottle feeds, and case packers. Setup and operate packaging equipment such as heat tunnels, de-clumpers, case makers, tray formers, case sealers, check weighers, and palletizer.
- Perform or verify daily operator quality checks as required per the batch record. Ensure all quality and food safety practices are always followed.
- Manually sort and de-clump bulk products prior to the packaging process or after the vision system; remove critical defects (e.g., deformed, discolored, misshaped, wrong size). Supply hoppers with bottles, caps, and other raw materials as needed.
- Assist in line clearance, cleaning, and sanitization procedures as needed to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Follow established communication protocols with VMS personnel to communicate and escalate quality, safety, and/or equipment issues
- Rework products per the written protocol as requested to ensure quality standards are met.
- Conduct necessary quality checks during and after the process to ensure accuracy to work order and batch record requirements as well as compliance to current processes.
- Complete assigned training on-time and escalate questions or concerns with the training material when necessary. Provide feedback to improve training material.
- Participate in communication meetings at the beginning and end of each shift to review current machine status, important updates, and any ongoing issues.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and waste reduction. Maintain our 5S methodology to ensure a clean, efficient and safe work environment as well as participate in kaizen events, root cause analysis, and other problem-solving activities.
- Utilize computer systems for email, workplace learning systems, and other related tasks.
- Ensure all quality and food safety practices are always followed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors or management to support the overall production process.
Minimum Education, Training, And Experience Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
Prefered Education, Training, And Experience Requirements
- Manufacturing Experience: 1-3 years in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Manufacturing Background:Prior experience in a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) environment, such as food, dietary supplement, or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
- Lean Manufacturing:Experience with lean manufacturing principles and practices. This includes familiarity with concepts such as 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, and Continuous Improvement.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Strong interpersonal skills – ability to build positive relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Strong communications skills – ability to communicate clearly and concisely in multiple media – verbal, written, etc. Must have ability to communicate clearly in English – verbal and written.
- Capable of maintaining good standing with performance and attendance policies.
- Capable of identifying, solving, and escalating concerns both mechanical and interpersonal as appropriate.
Required Training
Candidates are required to complete all necessary trainings within the defined introductory period.
Working Conditions
The operations facility is not in a climate-controlled environment. Candidates will be exposed to the seasonal temperature variations. All candidates will be required to abide to all PPE standards and department dress code.
