Job summary

Charter Manufacturing is seeking a Melter for the 2nd shift in Woodstock, IL. The role involves operating furnace charging equipment and cranes to support steel melting, moving materials, and monitoring the induction melting process.

Qualified candidates will hold a High School Diploma or GED, read instructions, perform basic math, and read thermometers. Prior manufacturing experience is a plus; uniforms, PPE, and safety protocols are provided.

• Ability to read thermometers and record data.

Responsibilities

• Operate furnace charging equipment to support steel melting operations.
• Use overhead bridge cranes to safely move and handle steel scrap.
• Transport raw materials and supplies to keep the melt deck running efficiently.
• Learn to operate induction melting furnaces and monitor the melting process.
• Assist with furnace maintenance, refractory repairs, and equipment upkeep.
• Remove and transport slag hoppers and other production materials.
• Identify and communicate equipment issues or unusual operating conditions.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Work closely with experienced melt operators and team leaders to support daily production goals.
