Job summary

McConway & Torley in Pittsburgh is seeking a Melter Helper to deliver metal to specifications safely, keep furnaces full, and clean furnaces and ladles thoroughly. You will work on the 2nd shift, with training on the first, and must be able to operate in a fast-paced, safety‑conscious foundry environment.

• 1 year relevant experience in foundry or heavy industry.
• Must be a team player and safety oriented.

• High school degree or GED is required. Must pass melter training to become certified melter.
• Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions with accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Assist the melter to deliver metal to specifications
• Assist the melter with furnace controls/functions
• Assist in verifying chemistry results and measuring alloy’s
• Assist in maintaining furnace through inspection refractory inspection and hot gunning
• Assist in maintaining quality standards
• Perform any and all other job-related tasks as assigned
