Job summary

Collins Aerospace in York, Nebraska, is hiring for a manufacturing associate on the second shift to deburr, set up laser markers, assemble components and interpret blueprints with GD&T knowledge. Responsibilities

  • Use a variety of hand tools to remove burrs or sharp edges.
  • Perform machine set-up and runs on laser marking machines.
  • Assemble components.
  • Read, interpret and comprehend process prints, engineering and quality standards, and other drawings/work instructions.
  • Monitor part tolerances and identify non-conforming features.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and system inputs (travelers, labor charging, production tracking, inspection results).
  • Identify and report process inefficiencies, machine issues, and improvement opportunities.
  • Follow work priorities to accomplish production goals.
  • Handle contact with coolants, cleaning fluids, oils and chemical vapors.
  • Obtain and maintain required inspection certifications.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.
  • Second shift: Mon-Fri, 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm.

What You Will Do
  • Use a variety of hand tools to remove burrs, or sharp edges.
  • Perform machine set‑up and runs on laser marking machines.
  • Assembly of components.
  • Read, interpret and comprehend process prints, engineering and quality standards, and other informational drawings and work instructions.
  • Monitor part specific dimensional tolerances while performing the operation and identify non‑conforming part features.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and system inputs (shop traveler, labor charging, production tracking software, inspection results, etc.).
  • Identify and report process inefficiencies, machine issues, and improvement opportunities.
  • Follow work priorities to accomplish production goals.
  • Can handle contact with coolants, cleaning fluids, and oils (petroleum based products) and chemical vapors from products during normal manufacturing.
  • Obtain and maintain required inspection certification(s).
  • Additional responsibilities and duties as assigned.
  • Second shift: Monday – Friday, 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm.
What You Will Learn
  • Precision deburring process to print specifications.
  • Set‑up and operation of laser markers.
  • Reading/interpreting GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
  • Cross‑functional collaboration through various types of manufacturing and processes.
  • Gain experience with a variety of inspection equipment.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires HS diploma or equivalent or, in the absence of an HS diploma or GED, 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Basic math skills, including adding and subtracting decimals.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn and use multiple computer applications (including email, internet, and other job‑specific applications).
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Experience with measurement equipment, i.e. gauges, calipers, etc.
  • Experience with basic hand tools.
  • Experience reading, interpreting, and following blueprints.
